The easiest simple dessert or add on to a dessert is 100% these easy maple fried bananas.

I LOVE eating this as is but also over a big bowl of vanilla ice cream. And not to mention, over a bowl of oatmeal or even some pancakes in the morning!

Why you will love this recipe:

  • You only need 3 ingredients for these maple fried bananas.
  • The bananas in delicious maple syrup are ready in about 5 minutes.
  • They compliment so many dishes: oatmeal, pancakes, yogurt, brownies and baked goods, ice cream and so much more.
  • The caramelized bananas with the rich maple flavor is a perfect combo.
  • An easy way to really satisfy a sweet craving!

Ingredients:

  • bananas: the best bananas will be just ripe, nice yellow bananas. Don’t use over ripe and brown bananas as they will not hold up well and may be too sweet.
  • oil or butter: I typically use coconut oil but sometimes will use butter for a richer flavor. If you are not a fan of coconut, use refined coconut oil.
  • maple syrup: you will want pure maple syrup for the richest flavor. Make sure you aren’t using pancake syrup.

Variations:

There are some easy ways to vary these maple fried bananas to switch up the flavor.

  • Add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg for a hint of spice.
  • Switch the maple syrup out for honey. Honey will be delicious as well!
  • Add a drizzle of chocolate or caramel
  • Make them adult friendly with a splash of bourbon or rum.

How to serve these maple fried bananas:

  • I would like to say over ice cream is the only way to go, but I will say it is at least the best way to eat them. Vanilla ice cream pairs so perfectly with these crispy sweet, caramelized bananas.
  • Top your morning oatmeal with these fried bananas and you will be starting your day right!
  • A yogurt and granola combo with fried bananas is another perfect way to go.
  • A giant dollop of whipped cream sounds perfect to pair with these bananas as well.
  • Instead of strawberry shortcake, try a maple fired banana shortcake. Make these simple sweet biscuits and grab some whipped cream and you are set for a stupid easy dessert!

Notes and Tips:

  • The nature of these bananas cooked up in syrup doesn’t make for great leftovers. Ideally, you will want to eat them right away so plan accordingly. You can warm them up the next day and they will still be edible, but the freshness of caramelized bananas is unmatched the next day.
  • For best results, use bananas that are no longer green and are a nice yellow shade. You want them to be firm and not overly mushy.

I just tried the recipe and it was wonderful. I used honey with vanilla ice cream. My only suggestion is to make sure that your slices are pretty thick as otherwise the bananas fall apart and stick to the pan. Otherwise.. AMAZING!!!

Thank you for a truly “easy” and super fast dessert ❤️
