I don’t even know where to start, April is going to be one heck of a month for us. So clearly this Tropical Berry Sangria is going to get quite a bit of mileage this month.
One word to describe the next thirty days: CELEBRATION. We have so much to celebrate! So partnering up with Welch’s to create a celebratory drink is the perfect way to kick off this month.
Our big month kicked off with Easter, the perfect day of celebration. It was our first Easter Sunday with our little guy and as we sat in church, a few tears came to my eyes. I remembered all of the Easters, holiday after holiday, year after year, that I felt I had so little to celebrate and yet here I was more full of joy than ever. I never knew it was possible to be this happy.
And then there is day 2 of April, our wedding anniversary. Lucky number 7 this year! It’s so crazy to think we have been married so long, and yet it’s as though we’ve only just begun (had to throw that in there, my mom and dad’s song they danced to at their wedding!). With our little man here, the perfect anniversary is going to be a cozy dinner with a big pitcher of this amazing sangria–it is even Anthony approved! A quick trip to the tropics like our honeymoon without leaving the couch.
From here, we have Sam’s baptism coming up in two weeks. Hosting a big crew at the house afterward so another chance to celebrate. A touch of Welch’s Passionfruit Cocktail, some white wine, seltzer, a few other ingredients, and best of all, no sweat. This sangria is what I am talking about.
All of this is amazing, and so exciting, but the day that will take all the cake is the final day of celebration this month: Sam’s adoption finalization. I can’t believe it is so close. I can’t believe this is real life. In only a few weeks, he will be ours forever, officially. And so that day and probably the rest of April, we will celebrate, celebrate, CELEBRATE.
So let’s talk about this super simple, refreshing cocktail that is fruity, fun and very refreshing. The perfect celebratory drink. The reason I love sangria so much has everything to do with the fruit. I love fresh fruit in my cocktails and mocktails alike. The fruit at the bottom is the gift that keeps on giving.
I grew up on Welch’s grape juice–loved the classic Concord Grape but was always an even bigger fan of White Grape juice. This probably is the reason I love white wine more than red. Welch’s Refrigerated Cocktails include a white grape juice with one of my favorite juices: passion fruit. passion fruit juice is not the easiest thing to find just hanging around here on the mainland, but this juice cocktail is! Bonus.
If you have fresh berries, seltzer, lemons, Welch’s Passion Fruit Juice Cocktail and some white wine, you are just about there. The final ingredient? Friends and family to help you celebrate. What’s a big spread of delicious food and a pitcher of sangria if you don’t have anyone to enjoy it with!
Hoping you have so much to celebrate this month as well. Even if you don’t, you are more than welcome to celebrate right along with us. Cheers friends!

- 3 c lemon seltzer water
- 2 lemons, sliced
- 1 6 oz. conatiner raspberries

- Peach Schnapps optional
Layer fruit on the bottom of a 2+ qt pitcher.
Add juice and wine and then add pour seltzer on top. (pour seltzer slowly).
Stir and chill for about 30 minutes before serving.
About 1/4 c of peach schnapps is a fun addition, but it can make the recipe a bit too sweet for some, so keeping it as an option!
